Happy New You!

Happy New Year!

What a day to bring in the new year!  January 1, 2009.  Dad is having a great day, he's chipper and sassy and full of life.  After a rainy few weeks, this morning we woke up to the brightest, clearest, most spectacular, beautiful day.  The mountains were illuminated, our farm... brilliant in green and adorned in flower and fruit accents.

Aaron, Andrew, Wenying and Trillium brought in the new year with a bon fire and playing night frisbee with a multi-lit frisbee and head lamps.  Patrick and I went out cruising around the island looking for adventure.  Seth made it safely to the airport, full of delicious Korean BBQ.

Dad has had fevers that come and go, body chills, and some pain in his ribs over the last few days, but his energy is higher today.

We welcome this year with open arms and excitement for new adventures!

Answer to the last trivia:
The last time a volcano erupted on Maui was in 1790.

*New Trivia:*

  1. I know Dave admires a lot of folks, but when I think about all the stories he told me about Archie Dodson, I would have to say that redbeard was some kind of hero. Perhaps for his multi-talents, resourcefulness and independence. Just like David :) Thanks so much for this blog. Love to all from Sherry.

  2. Hey family,
we have had some awesome clear sky days here too but not warm enough to be outside too long. I am thankful for the updates. Shanna called and left a voice mail that it was hard to keep up with all the phone messages. Nice to be connected this way.
Howard Brock came to mind as someone who had a mutual respect relationship with David. A good question might be how many folks think of Dave as a hero of sorts. I am one.
    love you all,
    Tarey

  4. We spoke with Evey yesterday. She and Aunt Fran (Mom) are having a great time together in Florida. They seem to picture themselves as two old biddies who can do whatever they want and nobody will mess with them or deny them. Its probably true. Ron and Shell (and most of her family) visited over Christmas.

I'm glad that David if feeling good some days. That's gotta be better than not feeling good at all.

    Happy New Year!

  5. Happy New Year! I am excited about your blog so I can keep touch from afar and imagine what it's like in a warm place this time of year. I think David could find a hero in just about anyone and everyone, he's always seen the good in people. Lots of warm wishes. I have some exciting news for you all too and would love to talk soon!

  6. Thank you so much for this wonderful blog! We love to hear from you! And I feel warm breezes and smell beautiful Nohea Hana Lima!

Here in cold New England the ground is covered in frozen white stuff and the trees are gray. It has its own beauty of line and contrast. And the vistas open up and the sky can be very blue!

Even though our weather is cold, we send many warm and loving thoughts winging their way across the continent and across the ocean to all of you!

Much, MUCH LOVE from Berny & Martha

  7. And I can imagine a lot of people who are heroes to David: George, Shanna, Katheryn and Aaron to name just a few.

And I agree with Tarey that there are many, many people who have David as one of their heroes! Count us in too!

    Love, Berny & Martha
